A significant data applied during the intervention of this fertility specialist were the 11,478 monthly visits that reflects google analytics of the Reproduction Unit in Vistahermosa during the first six months of 2013, of which approximately 60% correspond to neighboring countries like UK, Germany and Holland, and places not so near as Australia or the United States.
Dr. López Gálvez explained that “the main reason for choosing our health care is primarily the quality and reputation of it, to which is added the flexibility of our legislation, to have an important international airport infrastructure and, of course, the location for its unsurpassable weather. ”
Regarding all these, the head of the Reproduction Unit of Vistahermosa stressed that “the internationalization of health services and health is not new in our city and the brand Alicante as tourist location is present in all international forums in which all medical professionals participate in and contribute to the economy of Alicante with substantial quantity reflected in catering, hotels, complementary services, residential, etc”.
During the presentation of the Health Cluster Alicante, Carlos Castillo, the Councilman of Employment and Development Agency of Alicante, explained the objectives set by this conference: attracting business investment, increasing of competitiveness and linkages for a greater business innovation, research and medical technology; on the other hand, to make possible that this health tourism sector generates wealth and employment in Alicante.
In this regard, he revealed that Alicante has several private health institutions: five private hospitals, one clinic for the cancer treatment , 24 clinics and health institutions, 97 medical centers and private health clinics, 69 private stomatology and dentistry centers, and among others centers, 9 are assisted reproduction centers. “We can say that this high concentration of activities related to health and well-being helps to develop a high quality medical and social care and, quite possibly, the most competitive in the whole Mediterranean”.
In his opinion, for the effective cooperation of this Cluster ,other institutions and organizations, clinics and medical centers, associations of hoteliers and restaurateurs, the Alicante Tourist Board, the College of Physicians, universities, Red Cross, the departments of Commerce and Consumer Affairs , Health and, of course, the Local Development Agency must be involved with Mediterranean Health Care.
