The endometrial scratch favours the embryo implantation, increasing the pregnancy rates

The Reproduction Unit Vistahermosa offers this technique without altering the total cost of the treatment in those cases in which, in spite of transferring embryos of good quality, the pregnancy is not achieved.
Reproducción-Asistida-Alicante_UR-Vistahermosa_infertilidad-masculinaFavouring the embryo implantation; this is the main objective when performing the called Endometrial Scratch. ‘’ We act directly in the endometrium (inside the uterine cavity) before starting the ovarian stimulation, performing a little scratch. With this scratch, it is produced an alteration in the balance of the components of the endometrium, which makes easier the implantation of the embryo in the next cycle’’, explains the responsible of the Gynaecology area in Reproduction Unit Vistahermosa, Manuel Lloret.
As the specialist in this technique explains, this technique is not carried out systematically in a first In Vitro Fecundation treatment. However, we perform the endometrial scratch when there are implantation failures but no uterine or endometrial pathology exists. We also perform the scratch when the implantation failures continue, even having embryos with a good quality and a transfer that was carried out adequately. ‘’This is a very simple technique, which hardly causes any annoyance to the patient and no anaesthesia is needed to perform it. With this technique very good results were obtained, confirming also that it improves considerably the pregnancy rates’’, claims Lloret.Dr.-Manuel-Lloret-UR-Vistahermosa-Alicante-Spain-Fertilidad_web-2016
The specialist of the Reproduction Unit Vistahermosa exposes that ‘’although the procedure is clear, it seems that some immunologic mechanisms of the embryo acceptation with its masculine heterologous cargo are triggered by the endometrium with the application of the scratching’’. In this sense, he comments that ‘’ it is deduced that the embryo has a heterologous cargo and if the immunologic mechanisms did not exist, the implantation in the placental mammals -as the mankind- would not be produced’’.
The Medical Director of the Reproduction Unit Vistahermosa, José López Gálvez, explains that ‘’if this technique may be needed, our Centre will assume its cost without altering the total amount of the treatment. However, in other infertility clinics, generally international clinics, it has a high price added to the treatment’’.
